The CPCT (Computer Proficiency Certification Test) is conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Agency for Promotion of Information Technology (MAP_IT) for the MP state government. This certification is mandatory for all state government posts in Madhya Pradesh that require computer operation. The SSC CHSL (Combined Higher Secondary Level) examination is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission for recruitment to posts like LDC (Lower Division Clerk), JSA (Junior Secretariat Assistant), PA (Postal Assistant), and SA (Sorting Assistant). The typing test is a skill test (qualifying in nature) that must be passed after clearing the written rounds.
For English typing, candidates must achieve 35 Words Per Minute (WPM). For Hindi typing, the requirement is 30 Words Per Minute. The test duration is 10 minutes and is conducted on computers provided at examination centres. Errors are penalized at 5% of gross speed.

For Hindi typing with Mangal font, two keyboard layouts are commonly used: Inscript (the official government standard) and Remington Gail (adapted for those familiar with typewriter layout). The Inscript layout is phonetically logical and easier to learn from scratch. Remington Gail is preferred by those switching from KrutiDev typing.
