Inscript (Indian Script) is the official keyboard layout standardized by BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards). It is phonetically organized so similar sounds are on similar keys. Used in all Central Government computer systems.
Remington Gail maps the old Hindi typewriter to a modern keyboard. It uses the same key positions that typesetters learned on mechanical Hindi typewriters. Widely used in MP, UP, Rajasthan state exams with KrutiDev font.
For Central Government jobs (NIC, SSC, Railway) learn Inscript with Mangal font. For State Government jobs (MP, UP, Rajasthan) learn Remington with KrutiDev font. CPCT accepts both Inscript and Remington.
